Hij was de zoon van Hera en <a href=\"https:\/\/ancientmythology.org\/nl\/zeus-vader-van-alle-griekse-goden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Zeus<\/a> , hoewel sommige verhalen erop wijzen dat hij alleen uit Hera werd geboren. In tegenstelling tot de andere <a href=\"https:\/\/ancientmythology.org\/nl\/olympische-goden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Olympische goden<\/a> werd <strong>Hephaestus<\/strong> fysiek lelijk geboren, zozeer zelfs dat zijn moeder hem van <strong>Olympus<\/strong> gooide en door de val mank liep.<\/p>\n<p> Nadat hij van <strong>Olympus<\/strong> was gegooid, viel <strong>Hephaestus<\/strong> regelrecht in zee. Daar werd hij gered door de moeder van <a href=\"https:\/\/ancientmythology.org\/nl\/lichtvoetige-achillespees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Achilles<\/a> en de Oceanid Eurinome. Hij werd opgevoed door de twee vrouwen op het eiland <strong>Lemnos<\/strong> tot de leeftijd waarop hij <strong>een meestervakman<\/strong> <strong>werd<\/strong> .<\/p>\n<h2> Hephaestus en zijn terugkeer naar Olympus <\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-752\" src=\"https:\/\/ancientmythology.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Hephaistos-1.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"725\" height=\"777\" srcset=\"\" sizes=\"auto, \" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p> Om de dankbaarheid van <strong>Olympus te winnen,<\/strong> gaf hij tevergeefs een groot aantal geschenken aan de andere Griekse goden. Toen hij dit zag, besloot hij een val voor Hera te zetten met een troon die iedereen die erop zat in de val zou lokken. Omdat ze haar niet konden bevrijden, smeekten de andere goden <strong>Hephaestus<\/strong> om hen te helpen, maar hij weigerde. Vervolgens keerde <strong>Hephaestus<\/strong> , dankzij <a href=\"https:\/\/ancientmythology.org\/nl\/dionysus-god-van-de-wijn-de-wijnstok\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Dionysus<\/strong><\/a> , dronken terug naar <strong>Olympus<\/strong> , maar hij stelde veel voorwaarden om zijn moeder te bevrijden. De grootste van deze voorwaarden was om met <strong>Aphrodite<\/strong> te trouwen.<\/p>\n<h2> Jouw hulp<\/h2>\n<p> <strong>Hephaestus<\/strong> had een leerling genaamd <strong>Cedalion<\/strong> op het eiland <strong>Lemnos<\/strong> , maar hij werd bijgestaan door verschillende wezens in elk van zijn smederijen:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> De Cabiros Alcon en Eurymedon op <strong>Lemnos<\/strong> .<\/li>\n<li> De palicos op <strong>Sicili\u00eb<\/strong> .<\/li>\n<li> De onsterfelijke Cycloop op het <strong>eiland Vulcano<\/strong> .<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2> familie en kinderen<\/h2>\n<p> Hoewel het waar is dat hij met <a href=\"https:\/\/ancientmythology.org\/nl\/aphrodite-de-godin-schoonheid-liefde\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Aphrodite<\/strong><\/a> getrouwd was, hebben ze nooit nakomelingen gehad sinds de godin hem bedroog met de oorlogsgod Ares. Die hij vervolgens in volledige ontrouw betrapte. Andere verhalen zeggen dat hij een zoon had met Athena, die hij wilde verkrachten, maar dat niet lukte. Zijn zaad viel op de grond, Athene maakte het schoon met haar zakdoek en zo werd Erithonio geboren.<\/p>\n<p> Hoewel hij net als veel andere Griekse goden veel minnaars had en met hen veel kinderen, was zijn vrouw Caris, een van de drie en de jongste van de Carieten.
