Hera, een trouwe metgezel van haar moeder, hield haar bezig tijdens de <strong>geboorte<\/strong> van Leto, de moeder van <a href=\"https:\/\/ancientmythology.org\/nl\/artemis-de-godin-van-de-jacht\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Artemis<\/strong><\/a> en Apollo. Evenals in die van Alcmene, moeder van <a href=\"https:\/\/ancientmythology.org\/nl\/heracles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Heracles<\/strong><\/a> .<\/p>\n<h2> Illithia en de geboorte van Artemis en Apollo <\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-667\" src=\"https:\/\/ancientmythology.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/illithia.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"437\" srcset=\"\" sizes=\"auto, \" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p> Toen Leto ging <strong>bevallen<\/strong> , vervloekte Hera haar zodat ze niet kon bevallen waar de zonnestralen de aarde raakten. Zeus beval haar naar de plek te brengen waar <a href=\"https:\/\/ancientmythology.org\/nl\/poseidon-koning-de-zeeen-de-oceanen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Poseidon<\/a> een koepel maakte met de golven van de zee. De andere goden, die zagen <strong>dat Illithia<\/strong> vertraging opliep, stuurden <strong>Iris<\/strong> om haar te zoeken. Toen <strong>Illithia<\/strong> de geboorteplaats aanraakte, werden de welpen geboren.<\/p>\n<p> Andere versies van het verhaal zeggen dat de godin pas van <strong>Olympus<\/strong> kwam toen de andere goden haar een prachtige ketting van goud en barnsteen presenteerden. Nadat hij het had ontvangen, ging hij onmiddellijk naar beneden om de pijnlijke Leto te helpen en zo werden de 2 tweelingbroers geboren.<\/p>\n<p> Het wordt in verband gebracht met <strong>Artemis<\/strong> sinds ze Zeus om de macht vroeg om <strong>vrouwen<\/strong> tijdens de bevalling te helpen. Dit geschenk dat aan <strong>Artemis<\/strong> werd toegeschreven, werd waarschijnlijk ge\u00efnspireerd doordat <strong>Illithia<\/strong> haar moeder Leto in de steek liet, terwijl ze aan <strong>het bevallen<\/strong> was.<\/p>\n<h2> Andere representaties<\/h2>\n<p> Hij werd meestal afgebeeld naast <strong>Artemis<\/strong> en <strong>Persephone<\/strong> . Ieder van hen droeg een fakkel waarmee ze het pad verlichtten van <strong>kinderen<\/strong> die verdwaald waren in de duisternis; om ze terug naar het licht te brengen.<\/p>\n<p> De vaten waarin de geboorte van Athene uit het hoofd van Zeus werd afgebeeld, toonden dat <strong>Illithia<\/strong> haar assisteerde.<\/p>\n<p> Op veel Griekse altaren waren kleine figuurtjes in de <strong>kinderkamer<\/strong> te zien.
