Venus, jaloers op Psyche’s schoonheid, vraagt Cupido<\/strong> om een van zijn pijlen te gebruiken om Psyche verliefd te laten worden op de lelijkste man, waar Cupido het mee eens is. Ondertussen ging Psyche een kasteel binnen.<\/p>\n

Wanneer Cupido<\/strong> bij het kasteel aankomt en Psyche ziet, wordt hij verliefd op haar schoonheid en bij het vallen van de avond ontmoet hij Psyche en hij vraagt haar te vertrouwen en geen kaarsen aan te steken, waar Psiqe mee instemt omdat hij voelt dat hij haar felbegeerde echtgenoot is.<\/p>\n

Tijdens een bezoek van Psyche’s zussen aan het kasteel overtuigen ze haar ervan dat haar man een wezen is dat een einde aan zijn leven zal maken. De volgende nacht pakt Psyche een mes en een kaars om een einde te maken aan het leven van haar man.<\/p>\n

De kaars die Psyche boven Cupido<\/strong> hield, stoot een scherf was om, maakt hem wakker en hij vlucht, hem zijn wantrouwen verwijtend. Nadat Cupido is vertrokken, gaat Psyche hem zoeken in het bos.<\/p>\n

Na dagenlang zoeken in het bos komt Psyche de tempel van Venus tegen, die haar smeekt hem haar zoon te laten zien. Venus, woedend over de pijn van haar zoon, voert drie tests uit op Psyche.
