Een van de gevaarlijkste is de <strong>Kelpie<\/strong> , een watergeest die voornamelijk in de vorm van een paard verschijnt, altijd hongerig naar mensenvlees.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> Wat is een Kelpie?<\/h2>\n<p> Kelpies zijn mythologische wezens die behoren tot <a href=\"https:\/\/ancientmythology.org\/nl\/keltisch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">de Keltische mythologie<\/a> . Volgens de legende leefden deze wezens in meren of rivieren, daarom staan ze bekend als watergeesten. Ze kunnen vele gedaanten aannemen, maar over het algemeen verschijnen de bewoners voordat ze de vorm van een paard aannemen, hoewel er ook wordt gezegd dat ze als mens kunnen verschijnen, vooral als man.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> Aspecten van een Kelpie: hoe zien ze er meestal uit?<\/h2>\n<p> Hooglanders weten dat ze een meer niet in de schemering moeten naderen, omdat ze dan eerder een prachtig gitzwart paard of een lichtgevend wit paard tegenkomen. Volgens de legende kunnen reizigers die het dier tegenkomen de verleiding niet weerstaan om erop te klimmen en het onmiddellijk te benaderen. Het vreemd volgzame paard laat de reiziger op zijn achterwerk rijden, maar zodra het zijn doel heeft bereikt, galoppeert het het meer in en duikt naar het diepste deel, waarbij hij de berijder met zich meesleept.<\/p>\n<p> Aan de andere kant ziet hij er in zijn menselijke vorm nat uit, met warrig haar vol algen; de <strong>kelpie<\/strong> probeert het vertrouwen van de reizigers te winnen door ze het meer in te lokken en in het water te gooien. Hij kan ook op de rug van de paarden van reizende ruiters springen en ervoor zorgen dat ze de controle over het dier verliezen, waardoor ze naar de binnenkant van het meer worden geleid.<\/p>\n<p> Volgens <strong>de Keltische mythologie<\/strong> is er een verschil tussen zoutwater- en <strong>zoetwaterkelpies<\/strong> .
