Bekend als een van de belangrijkste Mayagoden<\/strong><\/a> , was Ek Chuah<\/strong> de god van de handel en een van de goden van de oorlog, evenals de god van de cacao. Deze matrices laten ons duidelijk zien dat het een godheid is met een behoorlijk geaccentueerde dualiteit; enerzijds wordt ze voorgesteld als een welwillende god, beschermheer van kooplieden en rondreizende verkopers, maar ook als beschermer van reizen en reizigers. ; aan de andere kant wordt hij voorgesteld als een god van vernietiging, chaos en dood.<\/p>\n

Uitvoering van Ek Chuah<\/h2>\n

Vanwege zijn dubbele functie als god, wordt deze godheid op twee manieren weergegeven, die elk van zijn facetten vertegenwoordigen.<\/p>\n

De eerste, als de welwillende god van de kooplieden, werd afgebeeld als een man die een grote bundel goederen op zijn rug droeg en een ondersteunende staf vasthield die tevens een speer was, wat zijn rol als beschermer van kooplieden suggereert.<\/p>\n

In zijn tweede facet, als de god van de oorlog, wordt Ek Chuah<\/strong> afgebeeld met een speer in zijn hand en altijd in de strijd, ofwel zegevierend door zijn vijanden te doden en alles om hem heen te vernietigen, ofwel verslagen door andere oorlogsgoden.<\/p>\n

Ek Chuah’s relatie met de mensheid<\/h2>\n

Ek Chuah<\/strong> was niet alleen de weldoener van kooplieden en een van de oorlogsgoden, maar ook de god van de cacao. Voor de Maya’s was cacao een heel belangrijk en allerbelangrijkst product in de landbouw, het werd zelfs gebruikt als betaalmiddel bij transacties.<\/p>\n

Om de gunst van deze godheid te winnen, voerden eigenaren van cacaoplantages rituelen uit in de naam van Ek Chuah<\/strong> , waardoor ze verzekerd waren van een goede oogst voor die tijd.<\/p>\n

Sommige mensen denken dat het feit dat de Maya-beschaving een god voor oorlog en handel deelde niet veel zin heeft en waarschijnlijk een van de factoren is die een rol hebben gespeeld bij het uitsterven van deze grote cultuur.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
