Hij woonde in Tartarus, gelegen op een plaats die bekend staat als de gevangenis van de verdoemden, dat wil zeggen waar de verschrikkelijkste criminelen uiteindelijk de ergste kwellingen moesten ondergaan.<\/p>\n<p> Op zijn troon werd hij vergezeld door vier zwarte paarden en de angstaanjagende hond Cerberus, die de driekoppige waakhond was. Daar wachtte hij tot de zielen die door de schipper over de meren van de onderwereld werden vervoerd, streng zouden worden beoordeeld.<\/p>\n<p> De god van de onderwereld wordt verliefd op Proserpina, dochter van Ceres, de zus van <strong>Pluto<\/strong> . Hij neemt haar mee naar zijn kamer en veroorzaakt grote pijn bij zijn zus, ondanks haar trouwt de god van de doden uiteindelijk met Proserpina.<\/p>\n<p> Ceres wendde zich tot haar vader <a href=\"https:\/\/ancientmythology.org\/nl\/saturnus\/\">Saturnus<\/a> om tussenbeide te komen bij de god van de doden om haar dochter terug te geven. De wrok van de vruchtbaarheidsgod was zo groot dat ze vergat het land en de gewassen schade toe te brengen, wat een grote hongersnood onder de stervelingen veroorzaakte.<\/p>\n<p> Om deze reden had <a href=\"https:\/\/ancientmythology.org\/nl\/saturnus\/\">Saturnus<\/a> geen andere keuze dan tussenbeide te komen. <strong>Pluto<\/strong> wilde zijn liefde niet loslaten, dus gaf hij hem giftige zaden, zodat hij zijn verblijf niet zou verlaten, wat resulteerde in de mogelijkheid om het gezelschap van de dame te delen.
